Narrated Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):

 The companions of Allah’s Apostle (may Allah’s peace be upon him) used to practise manual labor, so their sweat used to smell, and they were advised to take a bath.

The strong man is not one who is good at wrestling, but the strong man is one who controls himself in a fit of rage.

Being Considerate of Others

One should not push to get to the Black Stone (during Hajj or ‘Umrah) as the Prophet (may Allah’s peace be upon him) said:

‘Umar, you are a strong man, so do not harm the weak and when you wish to touch it [Black Stone], wait until it becomes free and if not then face it and say Allahu Akbar.

Narrated Abu Ayyub Al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him):

Allah’s Apostle Muhammad (may Allah’s peace be upon him) said:

“It is not lawful for a man to desert his brother Muslim for more than three nights. (It is unlawful for them that) when they meet, one of them turns his face away from the other, and the other turns his face from the former, and the better of the two will be the one who greets the other first.”

Harming with Speech and Actions

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr (may Allah be pleased with him):

The Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace be upon him) said:

“A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue or his hands.  And a Muhajir (an emigrant) is the one who gives up (abandons) all what Allah has forbidden.”

Helping the Weak

That the Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace be upon him) used to keep to the rear while traveling so he could urge on the weak, be helpful towards them and make du’aa for them.

Do Not Desert Each Other

Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him):

Allah’s Apostle (may Allah’s peace be upon him) said:

“Do not hate one another, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert each other, and O, Allah’s worshipers!  Be brothers.  Lo!  It is not permissible for any Muslim to desert (not talk to) his brother (Muslim) for more than three days.”

Earn Your Living

Allah’s Apostle, Muhammad (may Allah’s peace be upon him) said:

“No doubt, you had better gather a bundle of wood and carry it on your back (and earn your living thereby) rather than ask somebody who may give you or not.”
