Jarir bin ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported:

I asked Allah’s Messenger Muhammad (may Allah’s peace be upon him) about the sudden glance (that is cast) on the face (of a non-Mahram*).  He commanded me that I should turn away my eyes.

*Mahram – someone you are prohibited to marry, e.g. uncle or aunt, father or mother etc.  Non-Mahram would be someone whom you could marry.

The Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace be upon him) said:

“Shall I inform you about the people of Paradise?  They comprise every obscure, unimportant, humble person, and if he takes Allah’s oath that he will do that thing, Allah will fulfill his oath (by doing that).

Shall I inform you about the people of the Fire?  They comprise every cruel, violent, proud and conceited person.”

The Prophet Muhammad (may Allah’s peace be upon him) passed by a man who was admonishing his brother regarding Haya (bashfulness, shyness) and was saying, “You are very shy, and I am afraid that might harm you.”

Leave him, for Haya is (a part) of Faith.
